Participation

Your participation grade is an holistic reflection of your contributions to the learning environment of this course. There are many ways to contribute. These include but are not limited to:

  1. Participation in concept labs, workshops, crits, and reflections
  2. Participation in discussions on the web
  3. General courtesies: arriving on time, turning in assignments on time, participating in group research outside of class
  4. Engaging in peer-teaching activities inside and outside of the classroom

Activities that detract from the course learning environment, and which will result in a lower participation grade, may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Texting/web-browsing/social media that is unrelated to the activity/topic at hand
  2. Arriving late, leaving early, or missing segments of class
  3. Extended off-topic conversations
  4. Napping?
  5. Other disruptive behavior

I truly don’t anticipate this being an issue, but if an environment develops in which a student’s behavior is compromising the learning of their classmates, the student may be asked to leave class after one warning, or in extreme cases, immediately.
